Position Title: Bus Driver

Location: Destiny Prep Academy

Position Type: Part-time/Full-time

Reports To: Transportation Supervisor

Summary:

Destiny Prep Academy is seeking a responsible and reliable Bus Driver to ensure the safe and timely transportation of students to and from school and school-related activities. The ideal candidate will have excellent driving skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and a passion for ensuring the safety and well-being of students.

Key Responsibilities:

- Safe Transportation: Transport students to and from school, as well as to special events and activities, ensuring their safety at all times.

- Route Management: Follow assigned routes and schedules promptly. Adjust routes as necessary based on traffic, weather conditions, and other factors to ensure timely arrivals and departures.

- Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus. Report any maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate personnel immediately.

- Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws, school district policies, and transportation department regulations.

- Student Supervision: Maintain order and discipline on the bus to ensure a safe environment. Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus as needed.

- Communication: Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff. Report any incidents or concerns to the Transportation Supervisor.

- Emergency Preparedness: Be prepared to handle emergencies, including student illnesses or accidents. Follow emergency protocols and procedures.

- *Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and other transportation activities. Submit required reports in a timely manner.

- Professional Development: Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

- Experience: Previous experience as a bus driver or in a similar role preferred.

Licensing: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.

Skills: Strong driving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a solid understanding of traffic and safety regulations.

Attributes: Responsible, reliable, patient, and able to work well with children of all ages.

- Background Check: Must pass a background check and drug screening.

Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.

- Capability to assist students with special needs in boarding and exiting the bus.

- Adequate vision and hearing for safe vehicle operation.

Working Conditions

- The position involves working both indoors (vehicle maintenance) and outdoors (driving and supervising students).

- Exposure to various weather conditions while performing job duties.

- Flexible hours, including early mornings and late afternoons.
